Add your closure to your cap 1st.
Use Ball tipped pins.
Wigs can be constructed on Foam heads, Canvas blocks, or Manikins.
Stuff the inside of your mold so it sits firmly on the item you are working on top of.
DO- Give customers a reason to order a wig with you.
Post pics if your work on social media / your website.
DON'T- include hair in the price of your wigs. You have no idea which texture/length, color/ quality of hair they want.
Bonded Wig Making
Learn how to take your clients exact head measurements so that you can create a wig without them being present. This is perfect for the clients who like to change their styles often. This is especially great for people suffering from hair loss due to Cancer and scalp disorders.

Discuss with the client what look they would like to achieve
Check out the client’s facial structure/features, skin tone, occupation/ lifestyle, then make suggestions
Determine the appropriate texture, length, color, and amount of hair needed
Prep the hair before laying the tracks
Long hair (8” or longer)
Split the track into two pieces
1 to1 ½ packs needed
Short hair (27, 29. or 37 piece hair)
1 pack needed
Use blowdryer and nozzle on the highest and hottest heat setting to relax some of the curl out of the hair to make it easy to add the glue onto the tracks
Small wig cap (no thick rim)
2 plastic caps
Clear Masking tape
Permanent Black Marker
Meka Small Weaving Scissors
Client preparation – Wrap or Braid hair in a circular form
Proceed to make a mold of the clients head
Place plastic cap over clients hair
Use clear masking tape and begin to layer the tape until a hard shell is formed
Make all the proper markings necessary
Mark where the clients hairline is located
Mark the line where the occipital bone begins
Mark the closure for a long wig then mark where the closure for a short wig would be
Write the clients name on mold
Secure the appropriate cap on mold with the use of a mannequin or foam head
Use T-Pins to secure the wig cap where the hairline is indicated on the wig mold
Place first two pins at the back two corners, then place two more at the front two corners, then continue to lift the cap up to match the lines drawn and place t-pins
Spacing--Style & Hair selected alters amount of spacing between tracks
Spacing- ½ apart at the back

Use a closure piece
Make a closure with the use of a pulling tool (sewn method)
Obtain the proper tools and products needed
